There’s something really magical about photographing kids who are just unapologetically themselves—especially when they’re doing something they love with someone they love.

I recently had the absolute joy of photographing two best friends who share a passion for dance. They arrived in their dance outfits, full of energy and excitement, and from the very first click of the shutter, I could tell this session was going to be special.

These two were so sweet and polite—little professionals in the making—but also full of giggles, whispers, and shared inside jokes. I barely had to pose them; their connection and comfort with each other shone through every photo. Whether they were twirling, striking a pose, or collapsing into laughter, they radiated the kind of joy that only best friends can bring out in each other.

We leaned into their love of movement, letting them show off their favorite dance poses and freestyle a little (which always leads to the best candid moments). Watching their confidence grow as we shot was so rewarding—they encouraged each other, cheered each other on, and weren’t afraid to be a little silly.

Sessions like these are such a great reminder that photography isn’t just about capturing how someone looks—it’s about capturing who they are in a moment. And for these two, that meant sparkle, strength, friendship, and a whole lot of laughter.

I left the session smiling ear to ear and feeling so grateful I get to freeze these little chapters in time. Because someday, they’ll look back at these images and remember exactly how it felt to dance side by side with their best friend.
